XP Sp2 + MSN MEssenger

I just updated to XP Sp2. I have a hotmail address and MSN Messenger
doesn't display that i have any email now at the top.
This only happened after SP2.

Any ideas how to get that back on?

If you meant Windows Messenger then you need to downgrade from build
4.7.3000 to 4.7.2009, which SP2 installs , since that build doesn't allow
msn addons.

Check in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger

There are hundreds of posts there relating to this issue, with appropriate
resolutions

Are you sure you have MSN messenger, not Windows messenger?
I am asking this because, after installing sp2, one may not
check hotmail accounts with windows messenger (while MSN
messenger still checks hotmail accounts).

just so everyone knows this is from the other newsgroup.


from a MVP :

The Windows Messenger version within SP2 does not have support for Add-ins
which is required
for Hotmail support within Windows Messenger. As such, in order to get this
functionality
back, you'll either need to downgrade to the previous version of Windows
Messenger
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp) or use MSN
Messenger instead
(http://messenger.msn.com/Download).
