XP SP2 interfers with Yahoo's webhosting software

How can I get XP Service Pack 2 to stop interferring with Yahoo's webhosting
software, specifically their PageBuilder program? Was it something I
inadvertently toggled in my SP2 firewall settings?

Please note that I have already read Microsoft's KBA #842242 "Some programs
seem to stop working after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2." I did not
get a Windows Firewall Security Alert dialog box. There was no program to
enable, because the firewall exceptions program only allowed me to select
programs on my computer, not those shared by a website such as yahoo and
PageBuilder. And I had no idea what port to manually open.

And I read KBA# 875357 "Troubleshooting Windows Firewall settings in Windows
XP Service Pack 2." I didn't know what to do with the info the tools could
give me.

Somewhere at microsoft.com, I found a list of games & web sites affected by
XP2 and the new settings & ports to enable them, but yahoo & PageBuilder
wasn't on this list.

I finally reversed a bunch of SP2 firewall stuff with unfamiliar acronyms in
order to download a java enabler in order to get the basic PageBuilder
software to work. I thought I reset all the settings I had changed, but now I
get pop-ups and spam in my OE just like I had with SP1 AND I still have
PageBuilder problems. (And I already had Norton AV, so I didn't see a change
here.)

Now Yahoo's PageBuilder works - except that something is inserting question
marks into my text - and it isn't me. (quit laughing, this is serious) The
question marks show up in the html source code and into what is seen on my
webpage, but does not show up in the PageBuilder text box.

I accessed my website & PageBuilder from another computer - one with Windows
XP with Service Pack 1. (note: I had no trouble with Yahoo's PageBuilder for
2 years when I had Windows XP with SP1 on the same computer that now has
Windows XP SP2. yeah I reformatted, but I used my existing XP & Works disks.)
I found I can use PageBuilder without problem - no question marks. And I
found that on this other computer, the PageBuilder text box of the work I did
on the computer with XP SP2 showed little rectangles where the question marks
appeared on the webpage.

I then rebooted my Windos XP SP2 computer & tried again. I still get
question marks in my web pages - and only the computer with XP SP2 puts them
there.

I've contacted yahoo about this, but I think this is related to XP SP2. I
just don't understand how.

I'd like to get the question marks out of my web pages & I'd like to be able
to use the features that XP SP2 provides. How can I do both on the same
computer?

thanks for listening.
