XP SP2 Install + Updates

I have searched this Forum and made a Google search, but could not come up
with a "how-to" for my question, which is:
Is there a way to download all the Updates at one go after a clean install
of Windows XP Pro (SP2)? Also, is it possible to put these Updates/patches on
the XP Installation CD and install them automatically each time I do a fresh
Install of Windows?
Thank you all for your time and anticipated suggestions.

The answer is yes!

Do a search on "SlipStream"

Or start at
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

or http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814847

Good Luck

First link is for incorporating SP2 into a prior version XP installation CD,
and making the resulting installation CD. Autostreamer program is much
easier/simpler.

Second link requires alot of detail for each update after SP2 before it can
be incorporated to an installation CD for XP w/SP2 already incorporated. I
have 88 such updates installed on my PC. 84 are security updates/hotfixes
specifically for XP SP2. One a WGA update, 3 others are mediaplayer
associated. Could easily install the previously downloaded updates vs time
to prep these updates for XP installation CD incorporation.

There's 2 ways to get the updates for future installations if they've been
previously installed. In add/remove programs, be sure "show updates" is
selected. Scroll down to the various updates on bottom of screen. Get
details, then more info. If the KB article has a download file selection,
can be gotten from there.
The other way is through windows update. Under options, use Administrator
options. Select Windows update catalog. Select find updates for Microsoft
Windows operating systems. Scroll down to Windows XP SP2 near bottom of
scroll. Caution, not all updates may be appropriate for your PC. Filter by
KB article with those updates already installed via add/remove programs.
Select a common folder to place these update files. They will be placed
individually by subfolder KB number name in their own area.

Thanks for the detailed info. This will be tough going.
First, there will be the question of what Updates are appropriate for my
machine. Secondly, as I did a clean install, I have no previous reference in
Add or Remove to go by. If I go to Windows Update page, will there be a way
to tell which Updates or Hotfixes are necessary for my Installation. Also can
these be downloaded into a Folder of my choice and saved to install later? If
yes, and here is the bottom-line, how can I Slipstream these downloads into
my XP SP2 Installation CD? If this can be achieved, future installations
would be much less of a hassle.
Thanks

Hi,

If you want to know what updates have been applied to a specific PC, Go to
the Windows Updates Site from the specific PC and do a "Review Your Update
History" this list all the updates applied to the PC.

( Run IE from Admin UserId [runas]) and select Windows Update from the Tools
menu)
