XP SP2 install, now 3com 3cr990-tx-97 nic funky

Now that I've installed XP's SP2 (XP Pro) my nic is funky. At boot up and
log in it works for about a minute. If I disable the NIC, then enable it, it
works for about a minute after it regains an IP. I've disabled the new XP
firewall and there's no difference. This is how I'm connected:

Desktop -> NIC 3com 3CR990-TX-97 -> Linksys BEFS11S4 ver4 (with latest
firmware) -> Westell DSL modem.

I just tried setting the MTU to 1500 after successfully pinging with a
packet size of 1472 (non PPPoe)

I know the router/modem is working as I can connect through it with a Win2k
laptop.

Help!

Try updating the NIC drivers. Get them from the NIC mftr.'s website.
