I've read many postings on the web regarding this error, however, I still
can't seem to load SP2. During install it gives the error message access
denied Error 80070005. Somewhere, I believe I've corrupted some drivers on
XP (I loaded the Intel chipset drivers from the Intel site on to my Dell).
My CPU usage is now running at 33%-60%, where it had previously run at
2%-4%. I was hoping that SP2 would restore something I screwed up.

I really don't want to reload XP and go through all the frustration of
reloading application and updates, etc.

Any help?

Thanks

I really don't have an answer for the problem. I suspect you will have to
find someone who is well versed in DELL for that. But I do have a comment.
SP2 is not designed to 'fix' problems that already exist. Sometimes,
through serendipity, it does, but generally you need to have your computer
running well first, then, and only then load SP2.

Hi

Please see the "Access denied" section here:

http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_install_Service_Pack_2

I suggest you start out with the SubInAcl.exe tip there and see if
that solves your problem.
