XP SP2 and Shockwave SWF files

Chris Stephen

Hello there.

Is anyone having any trouble with WinXP SP2 and playing a .swf file that
they have on their PC?

I can use shockwave through IE at www.shockwave.com however shockwave files
that I have downloaded to my PC will not run. WinXP SP2 cannot identify the
file and is asking to select a program to open the file but nothing works.

I have checked Macromedia's website for support however have not had any
luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

IE is what you want to select to open SWF files when
you're offline.

SWF is an IE plugin, it doesn't run stand-alone...

There is a standalone version of Flash Player that I prefer to use rather
than IE (works much better, let's you view them full screen, save them as
self-running exe files, etc). There used to be a link to it on Macromedia's
site but all I can find now are versions for Macintosh and Linux.
