a client installed XP SP2 on his computer. he needs to have a proxy/cache
server set in IE to enable him to access the internet.
He says everytime he opens and closes IE 6 the proxy server settings
disappear and is set to the localhost and he cant access the internet.

whats this? how do we stop it from happening?

Hi

You should be able to setup a Proxy Server via Tools>Internet
Options>Connection>LAN Settings... Are any error messages being seen?
Personally, I've had to bypass that ATM, as it hinders more sites than it
helps.

Hi

I normally use either port 80 or port 8080. I don't know if that will make
any difference in your client's case.
