XP slow to install

Hi all:
I have a DEll dimenion 2400 128M ram. I replaced the hard disk after it went
bad. Trying to reinstall XP with the Dell resources C and it takes a very
long time i.e. 12 hours.
Once the install is completed, the computer runs very slow and the CPU is at
100% utilization all the time.
No applications are installed, just the operating system
Any ideas?
 
You'd see huge gains in performance by increasing youre ram.128mb isnt
even recommended for xp,512mb min. 1024 should be enough even for on-line
gaming.
