Just updated XP patches and ran anti-virus that has a firewall. XP shutdown then reboots without giving any error messages. This happens a lot when working on a MS-word doc. or searching the web. What’s going on?

Open Control Panel - System and click on the Advanced tab.

Click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom)
section.

In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
"automatically restart" to clear it.

Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

Good luck
