Xp- Shutdown Issue

When I do a normal shutdown, it appears to shutdown okay, however, I can't
restart the computer using the normal on/off button. Instead, I have to
unplug or switch off the power button on the back of my computer. Once that
switch is powered off, I can power it back on. Then the normal computer
push button will reboot my xp computer.

Any ideas what would do this?

Press the normal on/off button for ten seconds.

That does not work.
Remeber the issue is turning the PC back on (not off). The regular on/off
button light comes on but the PC does not boot (unless I kill the power
completeley like I said earlier).

Sounds like something on the motherboard is not "resetting" when the
system "shuts down". Maybe correctable with a BIOS update or motherboard
drivers. Contact manufacturer for options.

Another person that I know has the same issue.
We have different motherboards but the same processor.
It appears to be an issue with the AMD 4000 processor. There's no BIOS info
on it yet... to new.
I'm replacing my AMD 4000 with an AMD 3800 in the next couple of days. Its
already ordered.
Thanks for the help.

I replaced the AMD 4000 with an AMD 3800 and the shutdown issue has been
resolved.
Must be a BIOS issue that has not been corrected yet. Anyway, I can't wait
for it so I did the replacement and all is working fine now.

Thanks
