I did a clean install of XP Pro and installed the Service
Pack 2. It now takes an extremely long time for a reboot
and/or shut down to transpire from start to finish. Has
anyone experienced this? Doew anyone know why this
annoyingly longer time is occuring?

Thanks,
Maurice

I changed: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="1000"

From the default of 20000.

Before SP2, shutdown occured in 5 seconds are less, afterwards 30 seconds,
after the regedit 7 seconds or less. I keeping an eye open for possible
problems due to the regedit.
