XP Security Issue

having trouble staying logged online and logged onto any
Microsoft Document ie word. After 1-5 minutes I get an
error message and the system automatically shuts down
after a 60 second countdown. is this a virus? any help
or ideas would be appreciated.
 
I have the same problem with explorer. I think it is the
new sasser virus. the patch is on the website, but I'm
having trouble downloading.
