I'm not sure how to correct it, but my machine did
exactly that for quite a few months. And then recently
it has been behaving. What I did was to hit the shut-
down button from the start menu, and then as soon as the
computer started re-booting, push the power button on the
tower, and turn it off manually.
A pain in the butt, but it works none the less.
