Try the basic one first:
Start>Run>type SFC /SCANNOW>press OK (space between C and /)
SFC=System File Check and checks for missing or corrupt
system files and replaces them. Have your XP CD handy for
it may ask for it.
If no help, go here, read Warnings before doing anything:

How do I do an XP repair?--Thanks for any help--Mel

Repair of what? There are a number of different tools and techniques
that could be described as a "repair", such as a repair install,
repairing a damaged boot configuration, repairing damaged or missing
system files, or repairing the damage caused by a virus/trojan.

If you can describe the particular problem(s) you are having then it
should be possible to suggest a specific repair procedure that is
appropriate. Otherwise it could be like taking cough syryp for a
sore toe.

Good luck

I would like to get an answer for my problem with WindowsXP Professional. I
used cyberscrub to get rid of old e-mail and then was going to delete the
empty space. My computer ran slower and slower and then stopped. I now have
a loop where it will tell be I have a hardware problem a software problem no
keyboard and runs in a loop of trying to start in 24 seconds. Won't start in
safe mode or any other mode. Wants a boot disk but I have none. Tried to run
Award BIOSSetup Utility and look at Hardward monitor as suggested but see no
problems. I tried to setup defalts. Did not work either. I tried to put in
my windows CD. Did not work. Any suggestions?

Are you the same person who posted the original question on this
topic? If you are then please use the same "from" address as on the
original so we can follow the discussion. And if you are not then
please start a new topic for your problems instead of tagging onto an
existing one as this only confuses things.

The symptoms you are describing have a lot of the characteristics of a
hardware problem, especially if you are unable to boot the computer
from the Windows CD. It may be best to have a hardware repair
technician take a look at the machine.

Good luck
