XP Reinstall-Reg Key Problems

Hello,
I have picked up after another IT and am finding it necessary to
reinstall XP on a machine. There are many (probably 15) XP discs in the
folder but no registration key sticker on the side of this machine. How
do I go about getting past the screen asking for a proper ID code without
trying each disk?

You can't unless you give the Right Key serial number you will not go pass
this screen.
Find the Ex IT guy Tel number, surely he did have an employment file when he
apointed to look after the CO compy's and contact Him/Her and ask kindly how
things going and get Him/Her to tell you the where about or any info about
the Keys or let the Manager deal with it.
Look on the CDs sleeves it should be there.
Or you can search for a Key retriever on the net and before doing a clean
install get the key from the machine.

That seems to be the only option, to find the other guy. He left for
overseas duty suddenly and I'm taking over. Problem is, this machine
won't even make it to the desktop so it makes a program like this almost
impossible to use unless I can get it into safe mode somehow.
I'd really like to just reinstall but MS is making that difficult.

You could start with Recovery Console and see if you could Repair the system
and make it accessable, until a solution found.

BartPE ( http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ )

or

Ultimate Boot CD for Windows

may help

It's not Microsoft making it difficult, it's the situation. If the machine
does not boot, and you have no COA or product key, there's not much you can
do in ANY situation. I would leave it up to the owner of the machine to
either provide a key or purchase a new license.
