XP Refreshing Windows Explorer every 3 to 4 seconds (if not more often) interferes with certain thin

When I'm looking in the main part of the window, if the list is long, and I
scroll down so far, it goes back to the top of the list when the window
refreshes itself.

If I am in the process of dragging 1 or more item(s) from one location to
another, when the window refreshes, it causes me to drop the items being
dragged right there on the spot.

What needs to be done to prevent this sort of behavior? I tend to use
Windows Explorer quite extensively and I didn't have this sort of issue when
I had Windows 2000 on the system.

Well yeah you can turn it off... but it sounds like a better idea to
find out what is going on. It sounds like a utility is checking disk
space or a file in the folder is being updated.
