XP recognizes 250g, but not seen on my computer?

Does the drive need to be formatted to be seen? Did I answere my own
question?

Right click My Computer, Manage, Disk management, it should ask you if
you want to initialise the drive, answer yes, and then partition /
format. (Available from administrative tools too).

You need to be running at least SP1 to recognize a drive that big.
