Hi, my machine recently crashed with Windows XP Home
Edition Installed. I therefore had to rebuild it but have
had problems since. The Install process runs fine until
it starts copying files needed for setup where I then get
messages that it "cannot copy ****.dll (various files each
time). I can skip these files but then the install
process completes unsuccessfully.

Please help cos this is doin me simple wee head in...

Thanks

Hammy, you may want to repost again soon, because we have had some GIANT
server problems, and not everyone got to see your post.

This suggests a problem with actual reading from the CD - drive trouble.

One thing you could do, if this is a 'proper' XP CD, not some restore
one, is format the hard disk to FAT 32 using a Win98 startup floppy,
and use that to copy the whole i386 folder from the CD to hard disk.
Then if a file has difficulty in copying, you can retry just that file.
Once done, go to the hard drive (give C: ) and then
CD i386
and
WINNNT
