I may be able to get a full version of professional for the same cost as an
upgrade. If I installed the full version (retail box not oem) over my
existing version of xp home, would it perform a clean install or install over
my current system keeping all my settings. FI do not want to format my haard
drive.

The reason I am thinking about upgrading is I may be taking a web design
course that requires either personal web server, iis, or another server such
as coldfusion. It can not be installed on xp home only xp professional. this
is why. I also have an hp pavilion amd 64 with 6 recovery cds and i do not
want to format for the reason i do not want to search for the drivers etc.
separately.

Hi

It would perform an upgrade installation keeping your settings...

Yes, IIS is XP Professional only. Coldfusion, however, will run
on XP Home.
