I am attempting to update my Windows XP Home Edition to
Professional 2002. No problems occurred during the first
3 steps (Collecting Information, Dynamic Update, Preparing
for Installation). Approximately half way through the
Installing Windows step (as per the progress meter) it
appears that the program has gotten stuck in a loop or
hung. The features descriptions continue to rotate
through the right side of the screen and the 5 dots in the
lower right corner of the screen continue the highlight
rotation. As of this writing it has been 8 hours since
this step has started. Any suggestions on what to do next
would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I found that I had gotten a KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I
rebooted the box and the installation process picked up
where it had left off. It completed the installation and
seems to be running fine at this time. Not sure what
caused the error. Thanks for your input.
