I have XP Professional. Version 2002 Service Pack 1. When I attempt to
install Service Pack 2 I get the following set up error(s):

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\msmsgs to file
c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$\reg00919

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\msmsgs to file
c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$\reg01625

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\msmsgs to file
c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$\reg01629

I am trying to install ipod updater and a requirement is that I have Service
Pack 2. I am not a sophisticated user so please "dumb it down" as much as
possible. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Many people are having problems with serivce pack 2. I recomend getting all
of the lastest updates FIRST, then trying to upgrade to serivce pack 2! I
would like to know if you have an old system or new? If you have a new
system with 512mb, and a big hard drive, then it is VERY WEIRD THAT YOU HAVE
THAT PROBLEM! However, if you have an older system, or upgraded from windows
9x (95, 98, NT, ME, 2000) then you should backup your computer, and try
installing it again, if it still does NOT work, then go to ebay, or
newegg.com and buy Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (I rec. PRO edtion)! HOPES THIS
WORKS!!!

There is no reason to install the updates most of which are superseded by
SP-2.
Installing SP-2 from CD or the Network Installation eliminates any need to
install anything first and it reduces toe possibility for install issues
since nothing is needed from the internet.

There is also no need to buy Windows XP again, hopefully you do not make
that expensive and needless suggestion often.
It is easy to get SP-2 on a Windows XP or Windows XP Sp-1 CD:

I wasn't trying to rip her/him off! I said "If you still have a problem
installing SP2, THEN you should buy it already on a disk!"
