I cannot get my XP to restart or shutdown. I click either
option and nothing happens. Also, if I click
the 'Troubleshoot' button on a device, nothing happens. My
"Help and Support" button doesn't work. I attempt to
access my floppy "A" drive, "A:\ is not accessible,
Incorrect function. This also happens when accessing
my "E" drive which is my DVD drive. When I attempt to
access my CD player, "D" drive, nothing happens. I can
place a CD in the drive and attempt to view the contents
through Explorer, nothing.
Any suggestions. I would like to reinstall XP but I can't
get any of my drives to function.

Boot from the CD. (Hint: It's the second repair you want, not the repair
console.)

If XP won't boot from the CD, you will have to make it the first boot device
in the BIOS.
