Have just loaded SP2 on machine using XP pro. The pro has now vanished from
the start up and everything seems to refer to XP Home. Has SP2 changed XP Pro
or is the system still the same. May sound daft but I find it confusing.

Once SP2 is installed, the splash screen doesn't indicate Home or Pro.
Right click on My Computer/Properties to find out what you have.

Where do you see the references to Home Edition? Service Pack 2 replaces
the old splash screen that said "XP [some edition]" with one that only
says "Windows XP". This is by design. Service Pack 2 cannot magically
transform your XP Pro machine into an XP Home machine.

What do you mean by "everything seems to refer to XP Home"? Specifics would
help, not conclusions.
