I think I did it this time. While trying to get rid of
various hijacking entries in my registry (using McAfee
Power Clean), my computer will not reboot, even in safe
mode. It will just continue to run disk check and then to
a blue error screen that reads "stop error 0x00000050.

op sys was originally ME,then upgraded to xp pro.

Can I remove xp pro and revert back to me? Will this do
any good.

I really can't afford to loose the data.

Help.

Thanks

Not at this point, but you can do a repair install. See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Tips, How To Do a Repair Installation.

You won't lose any apps or data, but you will have to reinstall any Windows Updates.
