XP Pro veeeery slow

Hi all.

Every time I log into my company network or dial into my
service provider all my programs then take forever to
launch (even opening a folder). This "condition" remains
even if I disconnect for the server etc. and I have to re-
boot.

I have run AdAware, spybot and an up to date antivirus
program. I am also up to date with XP patches etc.

Please anybody, heeeeelp
 
same story here with XP Home - also looking for help. I see there is a box in the corner of the Windows desktop with "C:\WINDOWS\odbc.htc" in it... can't close/delete it.... what is this... is this related to issue? thanks
 
I don't have that on my machine so assume it is not
related.
