Hi Guys...
Dell latitude 640. latest Bios and mobo drivers etc.
When plugging in a VIA 4 port usb2 pc card, the card is recognised and shows
up in dev. manager but devices (memory sticks, ext drives etc) are not
recognised.
If 5Volt external power is applied to the card - instant BSOD.
I've uninstalled all the usb's and let XP re-install them. I've used VIA's
own uninstall software and re-installed the latest drivers - still no joy.

A NEC card, on the other hand, works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Malcolm

An obvious idea... keep the working card, ditch the bad one ?

I too had extreme problems with a VIA based USB2 card (although it was
PCI based.) Switch to a NEC based card and this fixed everything.
NEC seems to be more compatible.
