xp pro sp2 install issue

I have vista home premium and xp pro dual booted on my laptop. Vista runs
fine, and all of the updates on xp have installed perfectly up to SP2. While
in the process of installing SP2, it always freezes at the part where it
checks the product key. My xp product key that came with the disc had been
already used on my desktop and i purchased a new license and xp was activated
with no issues.
