XP Pro SP2 and Nokia PC Suite 4.6

I connect my Nokia 6385 to my PC with a DKU-6 cable. Before installing SP2 I
could back up my phone with Nokia Content Copier. Under SP2 the copy process
hangs. Nokia acknowledges that PC Suite 4.6 does not work under SP2, and that
later versions of PC Suite that do work under SP2 do not recognise the 6385
phone. Nokia says to remove SP2, which I do not want to do.
Program Compatability options do not help (eg run in Win 2000 mode, etc).
Any suggestions?
 
hi, i had the same problem, but i couldnt solve it, i ended up buying a
program of the net, cant remember what its called but if you do a searh for
logo manager they also make this product, i went for the nokia suite and it
is so much better than the nokia one, you can change start up and turn off
pictures and logos, put games on your memory card instead of just the place
that nokia want you to have them and yoy can back up all contacts,texts and
anything else, i would recommend 100%, pete

If it won't work with SP2 and you won't remove it you only have one option-
look for third party software. Are there newsgroups for mobile phones? there
seem to be for almost everything else ......

You might want to try a later version of PC Suite (since most of the
versions prior to about 2004 were complete shite) and use an IR or BT
connection if the 6385 supports either of those. (If your PC doesn't,
consider a cheap IR/BT dongle - they're cheaper than the Nokia cables
and more widely usable).
 
Thanks, Mike. As Nokia says (and my experience confirms) later versions of
Nokia PC Suite do not recognise the 'old' 6385, so are of no use.

I found the Logomanager site and have trialled both Logomanager 1.4 and Pro.
Pro looks very good and easy to use. Both seem to work under Win XP Pro SP2,
and recognise the 6385. Neither seems to back up all of the phone, including
call logs, profiles, etc. I have contacted Logomanager about this, and await
their reply.
