xp pro + sp1 running like a dog

just completed a fresh installation of xp pro with sp1
embedded. My video downloads stutter, my music stutters,
and the whole system runs slower compared the previous
instalation without Sp1. any suggestions?

Update to all the latest Windows XP drivers.
