XP Pro shutsdown

When I start my sons computer it shuts down after about a minute. I can't
even make it to the desktop.

Can you help?

i had that same problem... and upon staking out the computer room i saw
the cat was intentionally pulling the plug... so i would reboot the cat
and get a dog.
 
We need a clearer explanation of what is going on. Do you get to the
desktop before it shuts down or does it shut down during the boot process?
 
Do you get more than 1 beep when you turn on your computer???

If so this means you have hardware problems
