Hi;

For no apparent reason, my 3 year old Gateway desktop gives me the 5 second
shutdown warning and then reboots. I've made no changes to the PC at all.
This was happening a few months ago and then it stopped. Yesterday it
started happening again.
Any thoughts as to why ?

Thanks;

Pat

boot in safe mode and check the computer. restart the computer keep tapping
F8 or F5, choose safe mode option and login as an administrator and check.

Can you Tell the COmplete warning message ....

Start > Run > eventvwr.msc > copy and paste some of the recent errors

There's quite a few and it won't let me copy the messages,. But here's the
most recent:

Error code 00000019, parameter 1 00000020, parameter2 e4de1908, parameter3
e4de1d38, parameter4 0c8602e

Also, when I try to do system restore, I get this error message

An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINNT\system32\shell32.dll,
Control_RunDLL
"C:\WINNT\system32\sysdm.cpl",System"

I can't a restore from Safe mose either.

Ideas ?

Thanks

Pat
