I just installed a new maxtor 120GB hard drive and I've
partitioned it into 2 60GB. When I run XP Pro(Full) setup,
it only shows 1 partition that is only 32GBs. I've tried
wiping the drive fully, but xp still shows only 32GBs on
the drive, can someone help me?

Thanks,
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

If you have partitioned the drive in FAT 32, 32 Gig's is the partition size
limit under XP's formatting. You can either choose more partitions, format
with a floppy to create larger FAT partitions or, go to NTFS for your
partitions. NTFS is the recommended file system for XP, unless you have
applications that need FAT.

That's the thing, all the partitions have been NTFS. XP
only let me do 32 gigs so I went to the drive's formating
software that was included, and did the two 60 Gig's in
NTFS.

Go to run,type:cmd
Then type:DiskPart then type:list disk type:list volume
You should get an idea where its all at,however DiskPart can only work on
unallocated disk space in xp explorer,if such space exist, type:EXIT
Go back to run,type:diskmgmt.msc
R.click on the space, select, format or create a partition. This can be done in DiskPart, cmd,
if space exist, diskmgmt is just easier to use,if you boot to xp cd,recovery,DiskPart works
also,if you need help,type:HELP

Ah, didn't check that, it seems my bios thinks it's only
33GBs. Does this mean I have a bad drive? Or what should I
do to change it?

If your BIOS gives you the choice of "auto detect", or something to that
effect, take it. Otherwise, you will have to manually set all the
information.

Jacob, I am assuming your mother-board will handle that size drive. You need
to read the spec's on the MB to make sure. Most modern MB's will take it.
