XP Pro Remote and waking up the host

Hi, I have a question re using XP Pro remote. I am using a new Dell
Laptop as the Host, and my desktop as the remote, all within my home
connected by a wireless router. (I use the laptop outdoors (cold) to
control a telescope and my desktop computer inside (warm) to control
the laptop). I can access the laptop with XP remote just fine. I
have the laptop setup so I can close the lid with out the laptop
going into hibernate mode, so I can remotly use the laptop without
the screen on and open. The problem is that when I disconnect
controlling my laptop and go to the laptop and open the laptop
screen to use the laptop, the screen is black, and will not wake up,
even though the laptop is still running and can still be accessed
remotely by the desktop. The laptop is unresponsive to all key
strokes and to the touch pad as well. The laptop has all of the
hibernate, sleep, turn off features off since I want it to keep
running until I manually turn it off.

Is there some sort of setting I am missing, or some sort of
keystroke combination that I need to wake up the laptops screen
after a remote session?

Thanks for any ideas!

Are you logging out of the remote session or just disconnecting? Remember
to actually log off the user when you connect remotely, then once you see the
screen saying it's saving your settings, then you can disconnect the remote
connection. This will allow you to use the laptop normally once the remote
user is logged out. The reason your seeing the black screen is that the
remote user is still logged into the machine and only one user can use the
machine at a time so the screen stays blacked out.

I was simply clicking on the "X" at the top of the screen, apparently without
logging out. I will try to log out as the user and see if this helps.
Thanks Nill!
