xp pro rebooting in loop, help!

Hello,

Last night i installed a progr called 'auto shutdown', a small app 200k
that shuts down windows after a defined countdown..

I did this as i was downloading stuff and didn't want my pc to run all
night..

now toaday when i start up, windows starts booting and 1sec after
'VERIFYING DMI POOL DATA' saying 'OK' my PC resets, and this happens in
loop...

I'll never use this shutdown soft again, but what to do...

Safe mode doesn't change anything.. tried BIOS reset, same..

Norton ghost disk check says all ok.. (i didn't make an image as i
reinstalled win 2days ago and still was configuring!!)

many thanks

Try starting the computer in 'safe mode'.. then remove the program that you
installed.. reboot in 'normal' mode..

safe mode not working, also resets..

strange: BOOT.INI is located on E: drive
i copied it to C: and edited it (partition was 2, now set it to 0)

same..

forgot to mention: yesterday i used external HD for the first time,
maybe it somehow messed up drive letters, moved BOOT.INI

If the computer does not get to the Windows XP startup splash screens
then it is most likely a hardware issue not related to any software
you downloaded or installed. However if you can access the Windows
XP Startup Menu to select Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration,
etc. then it might be a problem with the boot files on the hard drive.

Make sure you have any extraneous accessories (including your external
hard drive) disconnected and try again.

Good luck

Disconnected all usb,... hardware..
I can edit BOOT.INI using Norton Ghost 10.0 startup dvd..

Did diskcheck (also surface) all is ok

BOOT.INI is now on E Drive, while windows os is on C! so it moved..

i tried copying it to C: as wel as NLTDR file and editing BOOT.INI to
'partition 0'

nothing helps..
