Xp Pro product key

Have purchased new system with windows pre installed. As i had purchased an
XP Pro disk with valid licence, the sales person said all i have to do is
enter my product key. Unsure of where to find this to enter it

Not sure I understand your question..

You purchased a new system that already had Windows XP installed.

Did you also purchase a Retail or Upgrade copy of Windows XP Professional
and the copy on the laptop is Windows XP Home Edition? Or is the CD you
speak of buying the one that came with the system? If so - the CD Key
should be on a sticker on the system itself.
 
Already had new copy of Xp Pro on Cd that was unused and valid. The O/S was
installed but required me to enter my product key into the to validate and
register it. Unsure of where to enter this into the system

Registration is optional - activation is necessary.

If your new computer already came with a valid Windows Xp Professional
installation, there is no need to use the CD. Use it for a different
install.

When you bought this system, did the conversation mention anything about the
installation currently on the machine being invalid?

Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools,
and then click Activate Windows.
