XP Pro only allowing 5 network connections

Hi All,

I setup a new system running Win XP Pro (not home) with SP2. Unfortunately
I am only able to connect 5 of the office computers to the system and after
that it says no more remote connections are available.

I assume this is a know issue and has a simple fix. Please let me know.

Thasnks,
Bryan

Bryan,

Look in Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management. Under
System Tools - Shared Folders, look at Sessions. Look at the Sessions list on
the right. What entries do you see?

Yes, this is a known issue; the solution is to upgrade to a server operating
system.

Whoa. When you hit the 10-connection XP PRO limit, the standard solution
is to upgrade to a server OS. But the OP is, apparently, hitting a
5-connection limit under XP PRO, and should not need to upgrade.

To the OP: XP HE (and XP MCE?) has a 5-connection limit -- are you sure
your pseudo-server is running XP PRO?

It's 5 *connections*, not 5 *computers*. Apparently whatever the OP does
in his office makes his computers create more inbound connections to
the pseudo-server than is allowed. Since the OP didn't give us much of
a description of his setup, that's the best guess anyone can make.

Hi Bob. Yes, I am sure it is XP Pro SP2. I know about the 5 connection
limit in the Home edition but this is definately Pro.
