XP Pro Office clipboard

When I copy more than one item to clipboard on xp office
pro word program (on xp home oper. system), clipboard will
not keep copied items in clipboard when one document is
closed and opened to the next document.

The clipboard will save a maximum of one item, no matter
how many items are copied prior to closing of the first
document. Any suggestions? I searched the assistant
on the clipboard,but found nothing that addressed this
issue.
