Intel Celeron 2.00Ghz
256 meg ram
40 gig HD

A friend of mine got a nice Dell computer from a yard sale or someplace and
it doesnt have any of the software on it or with it. There is a sticker on
the top that has Windows XP Pro and the Product Key and some other numbers.
Is there anything she can do to get another XP operating system? I will call
Dell tomorrow when their Customer Care dept opens, but I thought I would ask
in this newsgroup too. Hopefully there is an option that will not cost her
too much money. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Contact Dell Support and request a Dell Windows XP Reinstallation CD.

If Dell are unable to supply a replacement CD then your friends only
other options are purchase a new retail version of XP or eBay where you
MAY just MAY be able to find a CD for that specific Dell computer as
the Dell key will most probably not work with any other CDs except
those that were supplied with that model.

A generic unbranded (MS holographic) OEM Pro CD should work

Find a freind with the same dell, use their OEM XP, Reinstall USE THE KEY
FROM YOUR DELL. WORKS EVERY TIME!

I am able to get into the setup menu and it gives some system information. I
could see it has a 2.0 ghz, 256 megs of ram, a 40 gig hard drive, a zip
drive, and 400mhz bus speed. According to that it appears to be better than
the system i have. I was able to get all the codes, so i am hoping Dell will
send new restore discs this week.
