I've installed 256 mbs of RAM and it's not detecting it
when I start the computer.
Any help would be great.

Not sure what else you have in there; but, pull it out, shoot some canned
air into the slot an make sure it's clean and clear.. Aaand are you sure you
have the compatible ram for your PC?

Greetings --

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module be compatible
with both the motherboard and any other RAM module(s) in the system.
Additionally, there are sometimes jumper switches on older
motherboards that need to be reset for the new RAM configuration.
Consult your motherboard's manual.
