XP Pro keeps changing Local Security Policy

I'm pulling my hair out and can't find anything relevant on google or
the groups.

Windows XP Pro SP2. In the Local Security Policy, the setting for
"Access this computer from the network" is blank. So of course I
couldn't get to my file shares. Don't know when this setting changed,
so I changed it to allow "Everyone".

About 3-5 mins later, the setting was erased again. I've added
different ids, and multiple id's. I can get to my shares, but then 10
mins later it's blank again !!

What keeps changing this setting ? I've got Symantec AV with the
latest Definition file, it detects nothing. Is this some new security
setting with XP that came as a fix ?

Does the computer have Internet access? If yes, then go through these
malware removal steps to make sure the computer is clean:

That's the first troubleshooting step. After you know the machine is clean
if you are still having the problem, post back. Make sure you tell us the
results of your scanning. We also need to know if the machine is standalone
or a domain member and what firewall you are using.
