XP Pro - Is this normal ?

W

Wizard

Hello,

I recently changed from Win2k Pro to XP Pro. I did a clean install.

With XP, when I delete an item, I get the confirmation window, but no
tone. This happens with some other system confirm windows also.
Several programs that generated a confirmation tone on Win2k, do not,
on XP. On rare occasions, I do get a tone. The rest of the system
sounds seem ok.

The autohide systray icons function, seems to work when it feels like
it. When it works, it hides the icons properly, but many times it will
not hide any. I have tried disabling / enabling it. Doing so, has no
effect.
Sometimes after boot, it will not hide. Later I will notice it's
working.

I use the Windows classic desktop.

Finally, the task manager will usually not minimize to the tray. I
think I read this a known issue.

Any feedback or fixes appreciated.

Start>Control Panel>Sounds & Audio>Sounds tab>Program Events.
There you can create or insert sound files of your choice and test them.
