Xp Pro IP address

When booting Windows gets "stuck" on Acquiring network address. The yellow
ball never goes away. To log on on I have to use the repair button and after
several minutes Can connect even though the ball keeps moving left to right
and the status remains as " acquiring"
Any suggestions?

You will be much more likely to find someone who can help if you post to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web.

There could be several reasons for this. can you let me know if your computer
is allocated an address from a DHCP server (windows server) or some kind of
router.
