I just bought a new computer with XP Home edition and realized only XP pro
will let me remote connect to it. Can I install XP Pro on top of XP Home?
Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Yes, and you can use an upgrade version, or a retail (not OEM) full version
to do it. You may want to check with your manufacturer to see if they offer
an upgrade package specific to your machine.

While you are correct that NATIVELY - Windows XP Home Edition will not allow
one to Remote Desktop into it.. You do have free third party options..

UltraVNC and TightVNC come to mind.

You can go out and purchase a retail upgrade of Windows XP Professional -
but if all you are missing is remote capabilities - there are other less
expensive options.
