XP Pro Installation Trouble

J

Jerry

I have tried to install XP Pro on my system using 5 different CDs
(both original and burned) and have experienced the same error on all
attempts:

In the DOS window, while copying files to the installation folders,
the following files hang:

diactfrm.dll
dx8vb.dll
dxdiag.exe
ss3dfo.scr
ssflwbox.scr
sstext3d.scr

When the files hang, the options are:
Press enter to retry
Press esc to skip the file
Press F3 to quit the installation.

If I press enter often enough (3 to 50 times), the files will
eventually
copy. Once copying is complete, the system will reboot. The XP logo
comes
on, then the GUI installation screen displays with the "Preparing
Installation" button selected and the next item highlighted in red.
After a few minutes on this screen, the following pop-up window
appears:

An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.
Failed to install product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup
logs
should contain more information.

The setup log contains the following:

Error:
Setup could not register the OLE Control
C:\Windows\System32\rsaenh.dll
because of the following error:
LoadLibrary returned error 1114 (45a)
***
Error:
The signature for Windows XP Professional Setup is invalid. The error
code
is 800b0100 No signature was present in the subject.
***
Fatal Error:
Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error.
The
setup files should contain more information.

After closing the logs, the system will reboot and return to the same
GUI
installation screen. The same error screen and logs occur.

I have changed memory, video card, CDROM, Hard
Drive, IDE cable, removed the LAN card, disabled the onboard LAN,
Modem,
Sound, GamePort. I have also copied the I386 folder onto the hard
drive and tried the install from there with the same results.

When I try to do an upgrade from Win98, the process seems to go
farther
along. I have to type in the Product Key, but the system always locks
up
after a reboot to the "Preparing Installation" screen.

Any suggestions?

My problem is very similar to jerry's (the post I replied to), but I will try to give a description of it

After I have choosen which partion to install to and the setup files have been copied to the drive, the computer restarts to continue installation. Shortly after this I get a "critical error" (my installation-language is danish, so I'll try to translate the error-messages). I can choose to view the log, and the log states

Could not register ole-object ..rsaenh.dll.
LoadLibrary returnede errorcode 1114 (45a)

The signature for Windows XP Professional Setup is invalid
No signature was present in the subject

I'm trying to install on a "stripped-down" computer; It has a sony DVD, one Seagate harddisk and the realtek netcard (I have tried without the netcard as well). I have tried to copy the contents on another computer to see, if the cd was broken, which it didn't appear to be.

After having tinkered even more with my hardware setup, I now get "random" errors, such as "windows logon procedure failed", "Hard error 17", which leads me to suspect hardware-malfunction/incompability.
