I have tried to install XP Pro on my system using 5 different CDs
(both original and burned) and have experienced the same error on all
attempts:
In the DOS window, while copying files to the installation folders,
the following files hang:
diactfrm.dll
dx8vb.dll
dxdiag.exe
ss3dfo.scr
ssflwbox.scr
sstext3d.scr
When the files hang, the options are:
Press enter to retry
Press esc to skip the file
Press F3 to quit the installation.
If I press enter often enough (3 to 50 times), the files will
eventually
copy. Once copying is complete, the system will reboot. The XP logo
comes
on, then the GUI installation screen displays with the "Preparing
Installation" button selected and the next item highlighted in red.
After a few minutes on this screen, the following pop-up window
appears:
An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.
Failed to install product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup
logs
should contain more information.
The setup log contains the following:
Error:
Setup could not register the OLE Control
C:\Windows\System32\rsaenh.dll
because of the following error:
LoadLibrary returned error 1114 (45a)
***
Error:
The signature for Windows XP Professional Setup is invalid. The error
code
is 800b0100 No signature was present in the subject.
***
Fatal Error:
Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error.
The
setup files should contain more information.
After closing the logs, the system will reboot and return to the same
GUI
installation screen. The same error screen and logs occur.
I have changed memory, video card, CDROM, Hard
Drive, IDE cable, removed the LAN card, disabled the onboard LAN,
Modem,
Sound, GamePort. I have also copied the I386 folder onto the hard
drive and tried the install from there with the same results.
When I try to do an upgrade from Win98, the process seems to go
farther
along. I have to type in the Product Key, but the system always locks
up
after a reboot to the "Preparing Installation" screen.
Any suggestions?
