You're post is unclear. Did you do an upgrade or a clean install?
It's not a good idea to upgrade a system that is having problems. They
are usually passed on.

Here is a link for how to do a clean install:

In the welcome screen, press {Ctrl + Alt + Delete} twice and enter
"Administrator" and click ok.

Thanks for the info, l tried this following instructions, but when l start
up it just reboots from cd and does not give me any choices, then comes to
welcome window and same password problem.
Is there something l can do at set up stage?? A

Again you are not being clear in describing what tried and the exact
results. What are you trying to do? Reinstall windows with a clean copy?
If so restart the computer and go into the BIOS. How that's accessed
depends on what system you have but it usually displays some sort of message
at boot up with the key too press to enter the BIOS or sometimes called
setup. Once in the BIOS set the boot order for the CD to be the first boot
device. Save the settings, insert the XP CD, boot the computer and follow
the instructions in that link.

If this doesn't work post back with exactly what you did and what happened.
