Goodday to all.
I have some problems on initial installation of Windows XP SP1 with a
ATI RAGE Fury MAXX video card.
In Normal mode, it keeps rebooting by itself after the initial XP screen.
In Safe Mode, it displays a message about a driver problem:
---
Computer restarted after an unexpected shutdown. Microsoft Windows
detected a possible device failure.
The driver for the display device was unable to complete the drawing
operation.
The display driver for RAGE Fury MAXX (VGA Device)(Microsoft
Corporation) seems responsible for the system instability.
---
I am offered the "Send Error Report" option, which I clicked on (what
gives???).
Cant find any mention of similar problems with the ATI RAGE Fury MAXX
video card on MS support site.
I know that this card can work with XP (not SP1 though) because I've
seen it on this very PC.
I've disabled all other devices that could cause IRQ conflict, and it
seems to work OK on Safe Mode.
Also, the card still works perfect on Win98SE.
Thanks for any hints on this, I really apreciate!
