XP Pro Install Problem w/Keyboard and Mouse

I am trying to complete a clean install of XP Pro to a new
hard drive but the keyboard and mouse keep failing during
the process. I can format the drive and load some XP
files but once it reboots to load device information the
keyboard and mouse go dead. I have tried repeatedly with
the same results.

This is not much help, but do you happen to have a microsoft wireless
multimedia keyboard, because i am having what sounds like the same problem,
though it's only the keyboard. Mouse works fine, just press any key on the
keyboard, then it all locks up. This happens as soon as you get into
windows, even during the initial installation (full from new). Plug in a
wired keyboard and it's ok. I posted a question to this newsgroup subject
"keyboard not recognised" which gives more info. If yours is the same
keyboard as mine let me know, and post if either of us gets a solution.
