XP pro hangs

ok iv'e been at this for more than a week
I have 1 Western Digital Raptor SATA drive a boot + 2 Maxtor IDE drives
Because this is an audio pc i must install xp as standard pc (F5 at
setup when it asks for F6) and I also press F6 in order to install the
SATA driver.
now when the sata is the only drive connected the setups goes fine but
after xp is installed and i try to hook up the IDE's the system hangs
(no xp logo).on safe mode it hangs on mup.sys (or agp440.sys if i
install my ati radeon on the system).
if i try the installation with all the drives connected the setup gets
stuck on the "setup is loading windows" screen at the beginning.
i've tried jumpering the IDE's in all the various configurations
(master,slave,cs...) no good.
in the bios the sata is the first boot device so i can rule that out
there is no doubt that this is a display problem because after the pc
hangs and i push restart the windows asks if i want to start normally
or in safe mode or in...so the xp did start only i didnt see a thing (i
guess)
please help i have tons of projects :(
thanks
btw its an ABIT ic7-g MB with p4 3.2 GHz an 1 GB of DDR
thanks again

Standard PC ?, not sure that you need to use a "Constrained" setup
for Audio work. I do a fair amount of Audio mastering and my PC
uses a Multiprocessor ACPI HAL with no issues. Your hardware
is ACPI compliant and you'd want to use the extended APIC setup
to use IRQs up to 23.

Anyway, I would install using ACPI and then post install change the
Computer driver back to "Standard PC". It will have to re-enumerate
all devices
