I have win xp pro and a Pony 256 Thumb drive.
Originally, XP would recognize the drive, however, since
loading windows updates, software packages or something,
my computer no longer recognizes the thumb drive.
Explorer does not show the removable drive. My old
computer displays a removable drive g:. I even re-
assigned the CD's so the thumb drive could be g: if it
wanted to, but no luck. I know that there is just some
setting that was changed, but I be darned if I can find
it. This is also the case on my Compaq laptop running XP
Pro.

Has anyone heard of this before? Anyone know how to
change this back to allow me to use my thumb drive?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Larry Krier

1) Look in Device Manager for USB driver errors.

2) Does the removable device icon show up in the system tray? Is your USB
device listed? If so, right click on My Computer, select Manage > Disk
Management. If the removable drive shows up there, without a drive letter,
right click on the drive to assign/change the drive letter.
