I have two windows xp professional computers, both SP1. Both have the
account "XYZ", with no password required. Both are in the same domain
as a windows 2000 machine acting as a file server. Both have file/print
share enabled, and have only TCP/IP enabled. The windows 2000 machine
has a directories shared. One XP machine, XPgood, can access the 2000's
shared directory with no explicit authentication. The other XP machine,
XPbad, gets a "Connect to \\200server\shared_directory" pop up,
asking for a user name and password. I enter the admin password for the
2000 machine and all is well.
What would cause the different operations between the two apparently
identically configured xp pro machines? Thank you.
